Press Release - 2013-03-15 - Futurity Releases Orion 1.4

Mechanicsburg, PA – March 15, 2013 – Futurity, an information technology company in the emergency management vertical, released a major update to their industry-leading Orion™ software system today. Version 1.4 continues the company's drive to deliver the most comprehensive mobile damage assessment system available.

The most significant upgrade is a comprehensive security model on both the mobile application and the system's dashboard. “The security model provides the ultimate in flexibility of how customers use their system", said Rob Richard, Futurity’s founder and CEO. “Now customers can designate access levels and privileges for both the mobile app as well as the dashboard. Let's say for example you are a county using Orion. You can now open your dashboard up to coordinators in your municipalities and they only have access to - and the ability to edit - information in their own municipality. But you still have the ability to see everything going on in your county from all your municipalities. So it's basically like giving other steakholders the power of Orion without them needing to have their own system”, Richard added. The release also includes other key enhancements and minor bug fixes.

Orion™ works on Android and Apple iOS devices, and allows emergency managers to take advantage of ubiquitous mobile technology to efficiently and accurately collect and report damage assessment information following a disaster, all without the need for an Internet connection. The cloud-based dashboard tallies the information and provides GIS and reporting capabilities. “Orion offers an easy to use, affordable solution that drastically reduces the time and effort of conducting damage assessments. And that in turn means a significant decrease in the paperwork headaches, the ability to receive funds for the affected communities faster, and an all-around quicker recovery”, concluded Richard in a short interview.
