DES MOINES AREA, IOWA

JULY 2024 I TORNADO

The Iowa Emergency Management Agency unified multiple counties under the Futurity Platform to enhance disaster response coordination. Emergency managers received in-depth, hands-on training during an all-day exercise hosted by Iowa’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Just weeks later, tornadoes with winds up to 120 mph devastated the Des Moines area, claiming four lives. Using Futurity’s mobile damage assessment app, emergency teams made rapid, informed decisions—compressing processes that once took weeks into just days. With pinpoint accuracy, our platform empowered faster response efforts, streamlining recovery operations to support affected communities efficiently.

sutter county, CALIFORNIA

FEBRUARY, 2024 I FLOOD

In February 2024, Sutter County, California, experienced historic rain, wind, and flooding, leaving disaster managers with the challenge of assessing riverbanks, canals, roads, and essential services such as fire stations and sewage treatment plants.
Futurity stepped in to support the Sutter County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) with a virtual “just-in-time” technology training, equipping the team to use our mobile platform for real-time damage assessment and reporting. With the platform in hand, Sutter County officials quickly evaluated the impact on infrastructure, homes, and agricultural areas, generating detailed reports to streamline government aid requests.
After the initial response, a Futurity team member joined the Sutter County Emergency Manager and FEMA officials on-site to visit every impacted location. Together, we documented the full extent of the damage and worked collaboratively to develop a comprehensive recovery plan. Our ongoing partnership with Sutter County ensures they are better prepared for future events, with a focus on continuous improvement and resilience.

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA

2024 I FLOOD

Over the course of two months, Sacramento County endured catastrophic flooding that caused significant loss of life and widespread damage to roads, parks, commercial properties, and residential homes. The scale of the disaster required rapid coordination across multiple departments to document, report, and respond effectively.
Futurity acted quickly, deploying two team members to assist with on-site damage assessments, focusing on levees and other critical infrastructure. Using Futurity’s mobile app, teams captured more precise measurements of levee damage compared to traditional measuring tools, providing more accurate reporting for government aid requests.

We also led comprehensive training for key personnel from multiple departments—including Roads, Buildings, Parks, and Emergency Services—enabling them to document and report damage seamlessly with our platform. Public self-reporting added another layer of valuable data, helping departments strengthen their submissions to FEMA.

As a result of these efforts, all eligible counties impacted by the flooding were awarded Individual Assistance Declarations.
